The History of CrossFit
Greg Glassman, a former gymnast, founded CrossFit Inc. in 2000. In his years coaching elite athletes, Coach Glassman found that the best way to achieve optimal fitness was not through specialization but rather through constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity. In CrossFit, that means combining elements of Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, sprinting, rowing and core conditioning to improve overall flexibility, strength, speed, endurance and agility.
I Don't Workout, But I Want to Try CrossFit
There is no physical prerequisite to begin CrossFit. All movements in the workout can be adapted to fit your needs; this is called scaling. We will take the time to adjust the movements so that you are able to perform them in a safe, and proficient manner. The workouts will be tough. The workouts are tough for even the most elite athletes. Everyone sweats, everyone breathes a little heavier and everyone has a moment or two in the workout when they really want to quit. But we are in this together. You and us. We are a community. We want you to be part of it. Believe it or not, you CAN do this!
Why CrossFit Orrville?
At CrossFit Orrville, our primary focus is proper technique. We feel that with a focus on mechanics, you will see the best results over time. We are committed to keeping our class sizes reasonable because one-on-one attention to our athletes is a priority to us.
